william.maggos<p>I've been asking <a href="https://liberal.city/tags/bluesky" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bluesky</span></a> users to bridge to the fedi for months and I noticed a problem. On the main profile page, they will show accounts that follow both of you etc. But sometimes they now don't show the <a href="https://liberal.city/tags/bridgyfed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bridgyfed</span></a> account even if it does follow that account. So I told <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://bsky.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/pfrazee.com" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>pfrazee.com</span></a></span> and <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://bsky.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/mmasnick.bsky.social" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>mmasnick.bsky.social</span></a></span> about it. No response, no problem.</p><p>But less than an hour later, my account got tagged as a spammer for the first time ever. Weird coincidence perhaps? <a href="https://liberal.city/tags/SocialWeb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SocialWeb</span></a></p>
Anna June Pagé<p>3/3 I do hope that more people will consider bridging their accounts. It is really nice to be able to communicate with people on other platforms without being locked into to a particular service. It benefits everyone. To bridge a Mastodon account to Bluesky, just follow @bsky.brid.gy. To bridge a Bluesky account to Mastodon, just follow @ap.brid.gy. It's that easy! More information here:</p><p><a href="https://lifehacker.com/tech/use-bridgy-feed-to-link-mastodon-and-bluesky" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">lifehacker.com/tech/use-bridgy</span><span class="invisible">-feed-to-link-mastodon-and-bluesky</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Bluesky" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Bluesky</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/BlueskyBridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueskyBridge</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/BridgyFed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BridgyFed</span></a></p>
Anna June Pagé<p>Less good: I can see that I have followers on Bluesky, but I can't see who all of them are. Also, if a Bluesky account comments on a post, I can see that a comment is there but I can't see it or respond unless that account is bridged to Mastodon. (I'm not being rude and ignoring you!) I'm also not always clear on why certain posts that I boost appear on Bluesky and others don't, even when they are bridged Bluesky accounts. That's all fine though. 2/3 </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Bluesky" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Bluesky</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/BlueskyBridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueskyBridge</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/BridgyFed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BridgyFed</span></a></p>
Anna June Pagé<p>It's been a few months now since I bridged my Mastodon account to Bluesky. It's not a perfect system, but I do think it's very worth doing. The good things are that it is really easy to set up, my Mastodon posts automatically appear on Bluesky without me having to do anything, and I can interact with Bluesky users who have also bridged their accounts. 1/3</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Bluesky" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Bluesky</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/BlueskyBridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueskyBridge</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/BridgyFed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BridgyFed</span></a></p>

So one way of looking at it is that bridigng only added 1% to the number of boosts and 2% fo the number of likes ... which doesn't sound like a huge impact. </p><p>On the other hand his skeet from his Bluesky account (which has 5000 folllowers) also only got 5 boosts (along with 19 likes), so another way of looking at it is that bridging <em>doubled</em> his Bluesky engagement! </p><p><a href="https://bsky.app/profile/ntnsndr.in/post/3lkszrwqgqb2m" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">bsky.app/profile/ntnsndr.in/po</span><span class="invisible">st/3lkszrwqgqb2m</span></a></p>
