It really winds me up when a statement is made about "Americans" or "Brits" which equally applies to anyone regardless of nationality.

Why not use "people"?

I understand why [some] politicians use it as it rams home the group(s) they represent but when corporations or news outlets use it, it just feels like needless "othering" of people and suggests you don't care about them.

🎉 Oh great, another "🤔 game-changing" #configuration #language by a lone genius named #Henry, because what could possibly go wrong with yet another #unreadable way to replace INI files? #Confetti promises to make you feel like you're reading the love child of Unix and Lisp, with all the user-friendliness of a brick. 🧱 Who needs JSON or XML when you have this dazzling new way to spend hours #debugging your configuration errors? 🥳

This is a very cool concept and in some cases works pretty well. I think it needs still a lot of manual quality control but the idea is neat and QC can be done once users raise an issue related to a specific video.

Speaking of translation fails, did you see this one: “Bâtir Maisons Canada”
Slogans are one of the most difficult things to translate, imho.

A three-word slogan can take just as much time to translate as a full page, if not more. Cultural context, space and host of other variables are only some of the challenges translators face. However, this was just so far off the mark that I’m left wondering how such a big team let something like this go to print?! #translation #election #Canada #french #language #cndpoli #politics

Random post, but I'm curious. What is your favorite swear word in any language besides English? I'm curious. In Spanish, I've heard the word puta so many times, that I might have found creative ways people have used it in sentences. You'd be surprised really, and yet, I find it interesting. Second favorite is pendejo. #Language, #Swearing, #Fun
