HOE SOCIAAL ZIJN ONZE SOCIALE MEDIA? 🤔 Over deze vraag mocht ik in gesprek bij Data Morgana, een talkshow over de #toekomst van het #internet📱 Het valt me op dat de termen #socialmedia en #BigTech vaak door elkaar worden gebruikt. Wat mij betreft onterecht. Sociale media zijn in essentie niet goed of slecht, het gaat erom hoe ze worden ingezet. There is no subject on which AI companies have been more consistently, flagrantly, grotesquely dishonest than training data. When it comes to getting more data, AI companies will lie, cheat and steal in ways that would seem hacky if you wrote them into fiction, like they were pulp-novel dope fiends:

Not sure why NYTimes even bothers to write this 15 page Terms and Conditions when this single sentence says "all bets are off: we have no idea where your data goes, but it's all up for grabs".

It's like the person house sitting for you says "I will not let anyone look at the passwords on your computer except for, I don't know, some people who come over to party with me while I'm watching your house."

Kind of a deal breaker.
