Thinking about a problem and not doing anything about it is just procrastination...
Doing something without thought is just being busy...
Thinking something through and taking action is where the magic happens.
We’re looking forward to this amazing event! See you all on Saturday!
The #data team I lead for the #Australian Plant Phenomics Network (https://plantphenomics.org/) is seeking two additional #Python #developers as part of our efforts to build end-to-end pipelines for #FAIR #research data.
One will focus on interfaces between our nodes and #S3 #repository storage at #Pawsey and #NCI.
The other will build tools to help nodes package complex data using RO-Crate.
The preferred location is Adelaide.

Not sure what questions to ask at the end of your interview?
Fed up with not getting feedback afterwards?
Kill two birds with one stone…
When you’re asked, “Do you have any questions…”
Try asking this:
“What is one thing I could have done today to have improved my interview?”
When you start a new feature, the first time you push your code will feel the most daunting.
After that, you’ll feel a little more confident each time you push your code.
So, when you start a new feature, try pushing your code at the earliest opportunity and push at regular intervals after that…

Yep, I don’t like rules but the one rule that I do enforce is that people take rest when they are tired or sick.
It’s the best way to prevent good #developers from writing bad #code.
Back-to-back meetings are a pain at the best of times, probably more so for software engineers.
Many software engineers come out of meetings feeling disengaged, annoyed and even angry at times...
Imagine the impact of carrying over those feelings straight into your next meeting; it's not likely to go as well. as it could...
Dear devs, we need to have a proper discussion about Open Source, what it means, what we want it to mean, and how it is evolving.
The @osi played a critical role in shaping the definition, principles, and approved licenses, as well as advocating for its benefits at a time when they weren't taken for granted, and continues to engage in meaningful discussions with key players to protect the present and future of Open Source.
But the definition is not frozen and certainly not simple. They recently wrote an article saying that openness means freedom, and freedom is a binary concept because you either have it or you don't. This oversimplification isn't helpful, it's detrimental to the quality of the conversation, and it's frustrating for the many contributors, companies, and organizations that are trying to balance total openness and sustainability every day.
This discussion is especially important today as we define what Open Source means in the context of AI models. The OSI has provided a new definition, but that doesn't mean the discussion is over, the OSI is a voice of authority, but we are developers, we are a community, we need to talk and we need to act together because we all have the same goal and we all share the same principles.
Slow Pisces Targets Developers With Coding Challenges and Introduces New Customized Python Malware
Slow Pisces, a North Korean state-sponsored threat group, is targeting cryptocurrency developers through LinkedIn with malicious coding challenges. The group impersonates recruiters and sends malware disguised as project tasks, infecting systems with RN Loader and RN Stealer. Their campaign uses GitHub repositories containing adapted open-source projects in Python and JavaScript. The malware employs YAML deserialization and EJS rendering to execute arbitrary code from command-and-control servers. Slow Pisces has reportedly stolen over $1 billion from the cryptocurrency sector in 2023, using various methods including fake trading applications and supply chain compromises. The group's operational security is noteworthy, with payloads existing only in memory and deployed selectively.
