La collégiale Sainte-Gertrude est une ancienne église Abbatiale dont la façade a retrouvé son lustre! Elle est le symbole de la petite ville. Il y aura un extra à l'excursion car depuis hier le tram est désormais prolongé jusqu'à l'aéroport du Findel, la ligne 1 est ainsi complète. 🇬🇧 Arrived in Michelau where I'll take a train back to Luxembourg and there will be an extra to this day out as the tramway serves since yesterday the Airport. Eric 🇧🇪🥾🚆🚊🌼🐑🐞📷De Saint-Mard à Bruxelles en passant par LiègeDe Saint-Mard à LiègeLevé bien avant l'aurore et il faut bien ça pour arriver tôt à destination, j'avais un programme bien chargé pour ce mercredi, veille de grève/manifestation générale.Ainsi, départ à 5 h 46 avec le premier bus pour Arlon de manière à poursuivre avec le bus Express vers Liège qui démarre à 6 h 41. C'est l'option la plus rapide pour atteindre Liège-Guillemins avant 9 heures du matin.Au début du parcours, la lune bien brillante dans l'air très frais du matin nous accompagnait... Le trajet de ce bus express passe par Attert, Martelange, Bastogne, Houffalize, la Baraque Fraîture, Manhay et Werbomont avant de prendre l'autoroute pour relier Liège en faisant deux sorties pour desservir des stations de co-voiturage. Le tout agrémenté par le paysage magnifique de l'Ardenne!Arrivé bien à l'heure, il ne me reste plus qu'à rejoindre Monsieur Marganne avec qui j'ai rendez-vous pour récupérer son dernier ouvrage (<a href="https://friends.gayfr.social/display/b966e8fa-2167-acf1-755c-e81628186572" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">voir le billet spécifique</a>) et prendre un café au buffet de la gare. J'ai eu l'occasion de voir les marches à blanc du tramway pendant cette pause et discussion à bâtons rompus sur le rail et autres choses...De Liège à BruxellesA 10 h 08, me voici dans l'InterCity pour Knokke via Brussels-Airport sauf que pour cause de travaux, le train ne dessert pas l'aéroport mais la gare de Zaventem-Dorp. Cette relation est nouvelle depuis le changement d'horaires de décembre dernier. Auparavant ce train allait à Mons et Quiévrain via Bruxelles mais la mise en service des nouveaux EuroCity vers les Pays-Bas au départ de Bruxelles a rendu nécessaire une inversion de deux relations, et de ce fait, Liège récupère une relation directe avec Knokke comme il y a quarante ans d'ici (l'ancienne relation IC-F reliait Maastricht à Knokke d'une part et Genk à Blankenberge d'autre part avec une circulation combinée entre Landen et Brugge). Compartiment inférieur d'une voiture M7 de seconde classe Si il y a quarante, c'étaient les "Breaks", encore à deux voitures et en livrée bordeaux, qui assuraient cette relation, il arrivait d'avoir des compositions maximales de six automotrices accouplées entre Landen et Brugge!Si les "Breaks" étaient le matériel le plus moderne de la SNCB en 1984, en 2025, ce sont les rames bloc M7 qui assurent cette relation avec une voiture pilote motrice et une voiture pilote classique, ce qui donne un faux aspect d'automotrices.Le trajet s'est déroulé sans encombre et vu qu'il emprunte l'ancienne ligne 36, nous desservons comme à l'époque les gares d'Ans, Waremme, Landen, Tienen (Tirlemont), Leuven (Louvain) et Zaventem-Dorp avant d'arriver à Bruxelles-Nord à 11 h 35, un temps de parcours plus long qu'en 1984 (1 h 11 de Liège-Guillemins à Bruxelles-Nord avec 8 minutes pour l'accouplement à Landen contre 1 h 27 aujourd'hui!) et ce malgré une modernisation de la ligne et un relèvement de vitesse entre Leuven et Bruxelles!Bruxelles - Virton-Saint-MardAprès être passé chez Waterstones où j'ai pu acquérir le nouveau numéro de Modern Railways (The Railway Magazine, ce sera pour la semaine prochaine, je me suis mis en quête d'un endroit sympa pour manger un petit bout. Je suis assez fan de cuisine asiatique (y compris indienne) et à Bruxelles, l'offre est pléthorique, le plus difficile est de choisir! C'est l'heure de manger aussi pour les pigeons! La crèche de la nativité du Christ à Bruxelles joliment restaurée est à nouveau exposée dans l'église Saint-Nicolas J'ai déambulé tranquillement à travers le centre-ville, après une courte visite à l'église Saint-Nicolas que je n'avais jamais visité (j'en parlerai plus longuement dans un prochain article), et la découverte d'une nouvelle fresque BD réalisée par François Schuiten (Les Cités Obscures) et m'être attardé à photographier un pigeon tout blanc, je suis arrivé dans la petite rue du marché aux Fromages où j'ai découvert un petit restaurant proposant de la cuisine coréenne, j'en parlerai aussi dans un article dédié! Une très belle découverte en réalité! Soupe aux nouilles végétarienne Après m'être régalé d'une soupe aux nouilles végétarienne, je me suis rendu à la gare centrale toute proche pour reprendre le train vers Luxembourg, qui malgré l'affaissement de talus à Saint-Servais entre Rhisnes et Namur et la circulation à voie unique sur le tronçon en question, n'a pas encouru de retard et j'ai eu sans encombre ma correspondance pour Virton-Saint-Mard à Libramont. A cette heure-là, ce n'est pas trop grave car il y a un autre train qui suit vingt minutes plus tard. Un pigeon fantomatique sur le quai de la gare du Luxembourg à Bruxelles Une journée comme je les aime, où tout va comme sur des roulettes!Demain, ce sera autrement plus chaotique sans doute, 50.000 manifestants sont attendus à Bruxelles pour manifester contre les réformes en tous sens du gouvernement de droite emmené par le nationaliste/indépendantiste Bart de Wever. La paix sociale a été rompue et en Belgique, les syndicats parviennent encore à mobiliser tant les travailleurs des services publics que du privé. A l'origine, la manifestation était pour réclamer des services publics performants et bien financés mais l'annonce de l'accord de gouvernement a changé la donne et ça devient une manifestation nationale. A noter qu'aucun avion n'atterrira ni ne décollera de Belgique demain! Les trains, eux, rouleront et seront renforcés pour amener les manifestants... les cheminots feront grève plus tard et les deux grands syndicats (socialiste et chrétien) ont déjà annoncé une grève générale pour le 31 mars prochain.
