The UK has more self-storage units than any other country in Europe (although the per person levels may more similar?), which might imply:

as we become more packed into small (new) houses we need somewhere to put stuff when we form new households?

for those forced into a cycle of moves from rented home to rented home it offers some stability where one's belongings can reside... or

perhaps, seeking security in something we just hoard possessions?

It's been a week since I was laid off. I've been on the job hunt but let me tell you, the time off is great! I'm doing the best I can to hold it together without worrying about the things I cannot control. But, it's been nice waking up and working on my own thing.
