People who’ve figured out the fediverse understand its power. Hear from early adopters who explain their lightbulb moments in our new short video series. The use cases and potential of the system are awesome, and these stories are just the beginning. Tell us: what's your favorite thing about the fediverse? We're listening and looking for more people to feature.

Big thanks to @quillmatiq, @docpop, @jaz, @andypiper and @_elena for being among the first to share their thoughts with us.
@Flipboard I was all in on what I consider the precursor to the current Fediverse, Diaspora, back in 2011 or so. I ran a public pod for around a year and learned a lot about collective human behavior and the practical and technological challenges of operating a distributed social network.
The tragedy and subsequent creator abandonment (stated factually and non-judgementally) of the early community saddened and disillusioned me for the better part of a decade. I appreciated the concept, but it seemed fraught.
In 2020, I began really paying attention to Mastodon and learning that the ecosystem had developed to the point where I could build something targeting the underlying protocols (ActivityPub and Webfinger) that could make an impact. I've been active in the current Fediverse since then and expect that I will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
@jdt Hi Justin, that's great to hear! If you'd be interested in sharing your fedi love story with a wider audience, we'd love to hear from you — here's a form to fill out: https://docs.google.com/forms/u/1/d/e/1FAIpQLSfgcjmPm9PFOrFLt5Y3hkIRiL4abXQkaiWoulVtgPjQD-Hb-w/viewform
@Flipboard it is not owned by one entity/tech bro.
@Flipboard Would it hurt to put a copy of the videos on peertube? While you target those in walled gardens, there are people within the fediverse who may be having second thoughts and need a reason to keep around
