We had no idea that krill fishing was a thing!
Factory fishing in Antarctica for krill targets the cornerstone of a fragile ecosystem.
AP reports the harvested krill is used "for feeding farm-raised fish, omega-3 pills, pet food and protein shakes."
@ScienceDesk Your protein shake should be feeding whales - something like that?
@ScienceDesk anyone else unable to read this on mobile? (Android, Chrome)
@Beeks Sorry it's not loading for you. It does have some interactive elements which sometimes don't work well on all devices.
@ScienceDesk it doesn't allow me to click the read more button. Seems like something else is loading above it and blocking access. :/
Edit: Duckduckgo browser works, so it's a Chrome issue.
@ScienceDesk @Beeks
Then screw these elements. Period.
Design websites that even work with a Braille line and for people with crappy computers and or crappy internet connections. Thanks.
@ScienceDesk didn’t read the whole thing, but agree that the krill are best left in the ocean. I’ve never taken krill capsules, and more recently stopped taking cod liver oil as I didn’t believe the industries sustainability claims. Much prefer hemp seed oil capsules now, if only for my conscience.
