Robert De Niro says his speech at last night's Gotham Awards was edited, with a sizeable chunk of it omitted from the teleprompter. The actor was accepting the Historical Icon and Creator Tribute award on behalf of "Killers of the Flower Moon." He ended up reading the original speech, which referenced the whitewashing of the Florida history curriculum and Trump's lies, from his phone. Here's more from Entertainment Weekly.
Update: Variety has some more insight into the debacle. "A revised version of the speech was delivered to the teleprompter less than ten minutes before the event started, according to sources with knowledge of the show. A woman who told the teleprompter operator to upload a new speech was overheard identifying herself as an Apple employee."
@CultureDesk Is this the place for my theory: that #ForAllMankind (on AppleTV) has North Korea as the "East Asian unfriendly nation" rather than the more plausible China, who is barely mentioned in the setting except to say "they are rich"
Conclusion: Don't F*CK with Bob
