Sounds like profit-maximising (until people stop buying them cos they're so easy to steal). My pet peeve is electric appliances having REALLY short cables. Some of them even have the hide to say "keep at least x metres away from... and don't use extension cords"). Well make your cables longer than 2x metres then! Not all power-points are at floor-level. Argh!
