As he assailed the investigations into him, #Trump also heaped praise on #AileenCannon, the federal judge he appointed in Florida who dismissed the #criminal charges against him for mishandling #ClassifiedDocuments, calling her “the absolute model of what a judge should be.” [not that the 11th circuit repeatedly had to correct her judgments or anything 🙄]

“The case against me was bullshit,” Trump said keeping it classy, standing in the building where the charges were approved.

#USAID staff told to burn and destroy #classifieddocuments.

The U.S. Agency for International Development is instructing its staff in Washington to shred and burn #documents. The move comes as President Trump’s administration faces legal challenges over its attempt to shut down the federal agency.

“As a result of *those actions*, we’re now going to be suspending & putting under review #security clearances for employees at that firm & holding people responsible,” Scharf said.

#Trump quipped that they would call the memo the “deranged Jack Smith signing,” invoking a pejorative he has frequently used to attack the former special counsel.

#Trump on Tues signed a memo suspending #security clearances for employees at a #law firm who assisted w/fmr special counsel #JackSmith’s investigation into the now-president.

WH staff secy Will Scharf said…that the memo targeted Washington, DC based law firm Covington & Burling, which provided pro bono #legal services to Smith in his probes of Trump that resulted in 2 #criminal indictments.

#Bongino has repeated #Trump's lie that he won the 2020 election & advanced another #conspiracy that Joe Biden's admin was behind the #FBI search for #ClassifiedDocuments at Trump's Florida home.

"EVERYONE involved in this DOJ/FBI abomination, from the management down to the agents, must be immediately terminated when the tyrants are thrown out of office," he said on X.

#EmilBove represented #Trump throughout his #criminal #ElectionInterference case & his #ClassifiedDocuments case & has since ordered retaliatory actions against those who worked on the other side of those cases. #EdMartin represented a defendant in a #Jan6 case, personally attended the Capitol riot on Jan 6 & has expressed support for the #OathKeepers militia group. Sergio Gor, the director of the White House's Presidential Personnel Office, announced the dismissal of the #archivist, at #Trump's direction, on X. "We thank Colleen Shogan for her service," Gor said.

Shogan, who was not in office when the #ClassifiedDocuments investigation began, said on LinkedIn that Trump had fired her without citing a reason or cause. "I have zero regrets - I absolutely did my best every day for the National Archives & the American people," she wrote.

In one memo, #PamBondi will establish a “Weaponization Working Group” to review #law enforcement actions enacted under the Biden admin for any examples of “politicized justice.”

That review will cover cases brought by fmr #SpecialCounsel #JackSmith over #Trump’s mishandling of #ClassifiedDocuments & 2020 #ElectionInterference, Manhattan DA #AlvinBragg’s hush-money case that led to a #conviction & a case from NYAG #LetitiaJames, in which she won a $454M civil #fraud judgment against Trump.

#KashPatel tells #CoryBooker that he can’t tell him what he testified before a #GrandJury in the #ClassifiedDocuments case because it’s secret under grand jury rules. Booker (correctly) informs him that as a witness he is not bound to keep what he said secret.

The issue is, after Trump claimed he had declassified all the #NationalSecurity docs (w/his mind) found at MAL, Patel publicly said that was true. There is no evidence of that, & other Trump ofcls said they never heard of such an order.

«Federal prosecutors moved on Wednesday to drop their last remaining efforts to prosecute President #Trump’s two co-defendants in the #ClassifiedDocuments case brought by the former #SpecialCounsel #JackSmith

In a single-page filing, prosecutors asked a federal appeals court in #Atlanta to dismiss an appeal that had been filed before Mr. Trump took office seeking to reinstate criminal charges against the two men, #WaltNauta and #CarlosDeOliveira»

The documents that #Trump mishandled were full of tightly controlled info that he stored on an insecure ballroom stage & in a spare water closet. Besides, the improper handling of #ClassifiedDocuments was a key line of attack that Trump himself used against Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Moreover, the charges that Trump faced weren’t about taking the documents. They were about his alleged all-out effort to avoid a lawful subpoena & defy federal law-enforcement ofcls.

Looking back on the 4-year Donald Trump interregnum, the failure of the case against #Trump for hoarding #ClassifiedDocuments is not the most serious or influential—that would be the utter lack of #accountability for Trump’s attempted overthrow of the government, including instigating the violent attack on the US Capitol—but it might be the most maddening.

"#Trump got very lucky when he drew Judge Aileen Cannon, an inexperienced jurist he’d appointed to the bench. First, she issued rulings restricting #DOJ access to evidence; ... Once charges were filed, she ran the case at molasses speed, drawing out every step; quarreled with prosecutors; and ultimately threw out the charges after ruling that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s appointment was unconstitutional..."
