Sylvia wrote the 1973 hit “Pillow Talk” and the song was first offered to Al Green—who turned it down for being too risqué.

So she decided to record it herself, creating a steamy/sexy proto-disco classic that some radios prefered to censor, at least partially.

It spent two weeks at number one on the Best Selling Soul Singles chart.
