I am going to have to remember to factory-reset any I look at in a showroom. Beats having to haul one back to the store and explain "No, it won't let me use it".

Samsung now needs a dedicated service remote to get into the service menus? Is this common? It used to just be secret button sequences or codes or something similarly stupid with the brands I'm familiar with.

Used to be that I'd do a #FactoryReset on my phone about once every six months to keep things clean and zippy. After the move to #android 13, I haven't really felt the need to "salt the earth," and have been letting security upgrades just roll over things.

After taking the Android 14 update this week, though, I think it's time for a clean slate. Hello fastboot, my old friend...

Yes, we have a friend that installed a "#Unity" game on their phone and now they get #ads popup on their phone at random, even after uninstalling the game.

They are thinking about a #factoryReset for the device.

I sense they may be capable of handling a FOSS distro, but there doesn't seem any #FOSS distros for the #ZTE model. Looked at #Lineage, /e/, #Replicant and #DivestOS but none supported the ZTE model they have.

Any ideas much 'app'reciated.

Unity turning lives upside-down.
