ugh just found out that the devs (Level-5) of the upcoming Fantasy Life title heavily use AI in their development and seem to brag about it.
i really liked the dry humor and style of their previous games. this is so sad. Q_Q

I've been writing using em dashes since the 1990s. The reason AI uses em dashes is because it was trained on my writing, and that of countless other humans like me.

The feeling I get when I am about to set up an article to write and some colleague gives me a wall of AI-generated prattle with a "Here, I made this for you, so you just have to polish it a bit"...
Is the same as if I am just about to dig in on a fish and chips and someone suddenly floods it with half a bottle of cheap ketchup and a chirpy "Here! You've gotta add a little taste!"
One way to express your amusement about ebay.de's new AI generated product descriptions:
- go to ebay.de
- click the question mark icon (bottom right)
- scroll down, select "Feedback geben"
- as category, select "Sonstiges" (misc)
- feedback away!
In about mid-March, I put iocaine on my external server, because of all the AI bot madness.
I did a bit of weeding on the server last week, thought no more of it, until today I got a message that there was some issue with one of the personal things I run on the server. Had to go look it up, and...
In one week since iocaine generated 9GB of nginx access logs.
This meant I ran out of room and the whole system locked up.

Fuck everyone who has anything to do with this rotten, excremental pseudo-technology. If you work for a company which is a proponent, user or developer of this shit, then you are the fucking problem.

Finally I've ditched DDG because it's pushing AI. Switched to SearXNG and it's quite fine, good for image search too.
Possible to make it the default search engine using a browser extension.
I am quite sick of facing constant accusations of using AI in my work just because I often change styles.
To non-artists: this is not helping in the slightest, harassing people who actually pick up a pencil because of your agenda and paranoia doesn't do anything but discourage people from doing what they love to do. And it certainly doesn't affect the actual culprits (AI 'artists' whose only effort was a prompt in a lie generator)
I am one of the many people who have went broke the moment this shit has released to public, I hate AI as much as you all do, but this isn't helping anyone.
I made a timelapse and a test drawing, but do not expect me to post timelapses with my art. This process takes extra computing power, and while some of you may be privileged enough to have a powerful enough PC, I do not. (and simply I just forget about this option in the software. ridiculous you expect me to have an entire screen recording suite ready whenever i draw)
I also want to mention that if you harass me and falsely accuse of using AI I will blacklist you from ever commissioning me.

This is a CPU graph of a web host that began having AI bots absolutely slam it starting at 4am UTC.
I blocked all Chrome user agents older than 120 at about 10:45 UTC.
These AI bots aren't using "nice" names like ChatGPT or AmazonBot. No, more like Chrome/116 or similar and they come from ALL OVER.
I am so tempted to put Iocaine or Nepenthes on the machine to generate Markov Chain garbage to poison the well, but I'd have to have Nginx map the older user agent string with regex. It probably could be done but this might piss off my employer.

I would like to commission some art SPECIFICALLY to run through #Nightshade and post somewhere on my blog to trap scrapers.
Total budget: $500AUD (negotiable)
Preference given to marginalised creators in AU/NZ
No NSFW art at this stage and I personally don't like horror or gore but otherwise go nuts. The art is yours to do with what you want but I will need some kind of agreement that says I can use it for anti-scraping purposes!
I would also encourage others, especially in tech, who can afford it to do the same.
Artists, please chime in here if I am completely off base.
