Nadat mijn poes #Lúthien zondag van mijn dak was gevallen en een meter of 5, 6 lager op de straatstenen klapte, was een uitgebreide operatie nodig om haar achterpoot te redden.

Very happy that #Lúthien doesn't seem to be in pain after her massive #surgery on tuesday, see this post (in #Dutch).

She's very unhappy if I put her into the cage, but I have to: if she exerts too much force on her hind leg, chances are the whole construction will break. That would mean the entire leg will have to be amputated.

So I let her out as much as I can. I abandoned the desktop PC I use for work, because that's on the second floor. I work on my laptop now, in the living room. She loves to be with me.

Net met #Lúthien naar de #dierenarts geweest.

Ze sprong ineens aan de voorkant van het huis op de vensterbank, ik heb haar nog nooit aan de voorkant gezien. Aan haar kop zag ik al dat er iets niet goed was, dus ik loop naar buiten.

Er komt net een buurvrouw aanlopen die zegt dat ze "uit een raam gevallen is of zo". Ik pak Lúthien op en neem haar mee naar binnen, schreeuwend en blazend.

Dierenarts maakte twee foto's, waarop duidelijk te zien is dat haar rechter dijbeen helemaal in stukken ligt

Vannacht slaapt ze daar, met een flinke dosis pijnstillers in haar mik, morgenochtend gaat de chirurg de boel proberen te fixen.

Today was a tough day for #Lúthien: she was #spayed. Yes, only 4 months is young, but she and her three brothers are pretty much sexually mature (eat your hearts out, rabbits) and I'd rather not have another clutter. Cute as is may be.

Just got back from the #vet. The catsuit that #Melian got, was too big for her, so she got her own.

She's not entirely recovered from her anesthesia yet, but she immediately decided my lap was the best place to do that, and she purrs loudly when I pet her

Her three brothers have an appointment with the chopping board next week...

Weird habit: #Lúthien likes to sit on my shoulder.

It means I have to move around slowly: throwing her off balance means feeling her nails...

Remember I said I would keep one #kitten, #Lúthien, and seek new homes for the three others?

Well, that's changed. I've found homes for two others ("Black" and "Tux"), and I'm keeping "Stripe", who I have now officially named #Beren. Too cute to let go, I want to see him become the king of the neighbourhood in the next few years.

So yes, that means I'm on my way to become a childless cat la^H^Hgentleman. Three cats is a bit more than I had originally planned, but that's how it is.

Two brothers, "Black" and "Tux". Same mother, but I assume different fathers.

I assume the black one has the same father as #Lúthien and "Stripe", they're a bit bigger and sturdier, and have slightly rougher fur.

"Tux" (working title, the vet told me black-and-whites are usually referred to as tuxedos) is the only one that still has blue eyes.

I have potential new homes for two of the #kittens, so I'd need one more.

I'm getting tempted more and more to also keep "Stripe", but that would mean I'd have three cats, which I think is a bit much. If I would, I'd name him #Beren, of course

Tomorrow they're exactly 2 months old, they were born on July 13...

Although I had used a lot of #garlic in my dinner tonight, #Lúthien didn't seem to mind. Playing with my beard, or possibly searching for a teet, she must have smelled the gardlic.

So nice to see I'm popular with the #kittens. Every time I sit down in the nursery room or the kitchen, a few or all four come to me and want to play/sit/sleep on my lap.

Mother #Melian seems to be jealous every now and then. These two videos were shot with less than a minute between them...

Apparently #Lúthien could stay, Melian only fetched Stripe (working title, because of the thin white stripe on his head) and left Lúthien alone. She fell asleep on my arm...

When #Melian gave birth to four #kittens, I knew I was only going to keep one. And because Melian is black-and-white, I wanted to keep one of the all-black ones. But which one?

Preferably a female, because I had already decided on the name: #Lúthien, daughter of Queen Melian.

The choice has been made. Not by me, but by this adorable little ball of fur. This one keeps coming to me, wants to play with me and sleep on my lap, every time. It's also the only female, and she's all black. Coincidence? Nah, there's no such thing
