Beautiful Petra, a sight to behold both day and night. Living testament to the silk road and bedouin culture. A tourist trap - and home to the bedouins.
When I visited in 2016 we were kindly invited by the bedouins to stay a night in one of the caves. An experience I will always cherish and remember.

A few years ago I set out to what turned out to be the most incredible trip along the silk road from the deserts of Jordan till the mega cities of China.
Through all countries and cultures I was humbled by the kindness and hospitality of the people and awestruck by the spectacular scenery of deserts and mountains. Thanks to each and every person I met along the way. I will be back.

It took me a long time to hose off all that mud off after it had dried... And then another long time to wash all the mud and gravel off of my driveway!

A somewhat muddy Jeep TJ.. You can't tell that it's a green Jeep. or that the bumpers are black, or if the powerful headlight high beams are on.

🎸 Pink Floyd & the Ultimate Desert Vibe 🎸This surreal badlands vista isn’t just a geological wonder - it’s a cinematic legend. In 1970, Michelangelo Antonioni filmed "Zabriskie Point" the movie here, and Pink Floyd (along with other artists) scored the soundtrack. Their eerie, reworked version of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" (retitled "Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up") plays during the film’s infamous explosion scene, where a house and all its capitalist trappings blow up in slow-mo. Fitting, because after five minutes in this heat, your brain will feel like it’s detonating too. 💥
