Did you know? 4 times a year, many members of #XMPP community (not all though) are applying to be member of the XMPP Software Foundation (#XSF), and for this they write a small presentation on who they are, what they are working on, and who they work for.

Every year, some of them apply to be member of board for administrative direction, or council, for technical decisions.

You can check public applications to see who are some of the humans behind XMPP: wiki.xmpp.org/web/Membership_A

@prav project aims to make joining #XMPP easy across different platforms. Though adding each platform costs us money and efforts (we have to add #Quicksy API support for sign up to the XMPP app and keep it updated).

So on some platforms (GNU/Linux, Windows, Mac) being able to work with existing XMPP apps are important.

We have proposed this as an idea for #GSoC with #XSF.

If we find good students, we may be able to implement this.

#XSF Announcement

Once a year the #XMPP #Standards Foundation holds #elections for its Board of #Directors and for the XMPP #Council.

If you are interested in running for Board or Council, please add a wiki page about your candidacy to one or both of the following sections until November 5th, 2023, 00:00 UTC. (Board application does not require XSF membership.)

#XSF Announcement

Recently there was an incident via a so called #man_in_the_middle attack happened to an #XMPP #server.

To reduce the risk of such attacks in the future an early stage service called CertWatch has been published by our Community: certwatch.xmpp.net/

Many thanks to Stephen P. Weber (@singpolyma)!
