So my #signal account is broke! I tried to migrate to #grapheneos and downloaded the apk from their website. Upon setup, I entered my PIN, confirmed the text, got asked to enter my pin again. I then got a message that said "Reg Lock" and my linked devices unlinked and the my old device got an account locked message

I have submitted a ticket and hope to hear back soon. But for now if you need me email..with pgp... all on my site!

If you're tired of Google having access to practically every inch of the data that makes up your digital world, Murena is here to help. This company takes existing devices like the Pixel 8 and the Fairphone 5 and converts them to /e/OS-based gadgets #deGoogled

Android Police · 5 things I learned from using this 'deGoogled' Pixel TabletMurena's /e/OS on the Pixel Tablet might be for you, but only if you can stomach rearranging your digital life away from Google's services

I was always surprised why there is not a way to sync #calendars and #contacts in #android without an app.
Although there are FOSS apps that work well, I'd expect that such a basic feature would be something the OS would do out of the box, specially considering the OS already provides an abstraction for "accounts".
For #degoogled #androidROM it makes even more sense, since most likely users will sync contact and calendar from a "custom" #caldav #carddav service.
#grapheneos

This is some bs. If AOSP development is made less publicly accessible it does NOT " simplify things for developers" but rather it hinders it for de-googled privacy respecting ROMs and their device ports. The need for continued and ramped up efforts developing alternative mobile OS's, like Ubuntu Touch, Sailfish OS, Droidian, Mobian, Postmarket, etc. is even more apparent with this move by Google.

I need a single, unified UX across my Linux laptop and #DeGoogled phone.

While I despise the recent Mozilla privacy cave-in, Thunderbird remains the most widely supported "universal" email tool.

I don't want confusion across UX's to cause me to reveal the new, real email identity unless I choose to do so.

BetterBird might indeed be better, but it's not running on everything. Proton's ok, but I've chosen another, and neither will import IMAP boxes.

Which isn't a problem.

I've used the default maps and navigation app that comes with /e/OS and I am pleasantly surprised. In fact, I think it's better than Google Maps, honestly. Maybe it's a coincidence, but it has worked better for me. I used it in my city (Manchester, UK) and it selected the routes very well

The app is Magic Earth, and from what I've seen, it's not open source but from a Swiss company. But I really love it and prefer it over Google Maps

still thinking to buy phone with LineageOS support, but it waste of money and i think isn't that necessary

on journey to strengthen my privacy, and the step I really want to do is use degoogled phone, is it worth it? or it's fine to use stock OS like ONE UI, de-bloat it, use FOSS software and use Firewall and VPN like Rethink DNS?

my threats model isn't that extreme, one of them is avoid big tech, tracker and advertisement

yeah, it's really a journey

I have #deGoogled my phone by (ironically) picking up a second-hand #pixel7 and immediately installing #grapheneOS.

Brings me right back to the days of building #gingerbread for my #htc #raider.

I love that there's no #google on this slab - but I have the option of adding google services in case I ever absolutely *need* to use a piece of software available only on play.

Being an #android oldschooler... I was some impressed with the web installer. My grandparents could have installed Graphene on their phones themselves. Fantastic.
