Ah, another day, another #overengineered tool nobody asked for . Meet Zxc, the #Rust TLS #proxy that forces you to wrestle with #tmux and #Vim while pretending it's a BurpSuite alternative
. Because who doesn't want to intercept #traffic with a #UI straight out of the '90s?

Behold, the latest over-engineered solution to a problem nobody had: yet another #string #search utility, because grep's five-decade reign obviously requires an AVX2-fueled #revolution.
If you believe a 5x speed boost will change your #grep game, brace yourself for a groundbreaking experience that totally justifies its memory-mapped existence.

@paulsanders i mean on one side i would agree with you and i guess my personal solutions are #overengineered
But then there is the significant other acceptence kpi, relative low tolerance return to operation, and a 24/7 implied SLA even if its not your service.
Oh, look. I made a thing.
A probably over-engineered device to measure the strength of magnets.

We had the need to filter out content for a specific country for some customers in some of our APIs (because of licensing terms that those customers hadn't agreed to). The developer who implemented this went somewhat overboard and created a JSON defined rules engine which allowed us to filter in many ways that we never had any need to filter on.

I didn't write this, but so much of my existential career rage is perfectly embodied in this blog post, so I'm sharing it anyway. Its a long read, but it absolutely accurately describes the problem with modern tech. It's a cluster fuck of epic proportions and everyday it gets a little bit worse.
I've been thinking about how to make a #3DPrinted waist clip or something when I don't need my walking stick and I'd prefer to have my hands free for other stuff.
I've had all these ideas of a clip and retainers with springs etc basically over engineered to hell.
today I made it, a loop of fabric and a knot...done
