It's alive!
Periodically over the years, I've gotten into a sourdough making kick. Last weekend I started up a new starter: about 3/4 cup whole wheat flour, and 3/4 cup water. Each morning I've been making pancakes with the discarded half, and then topping up my starter with new flour and water.
Finally this morning, on the 6th day, that lovely floral yeasty aroma greeted me. Sourdough pancakes were yum.
