From the article: "April 2025 data from digital platform WorkL indicates that while workplace happiness increased slightly for heterosexual workers in 2025, it decreased for LGBTQ+ workers — suggesting a change in the political climate also led to a change in climate for LGBTQ+ workers.

"Similarly, feelings of empowerment for these workers fell from 77% to 71% year over year and pride in their work dropped from 74% to 63%. Job satisfaction for LGBTQ+ workers also dropped from 75% to 64%."

HR Dive · LGBTQ+ workers report more discrimination, less happiness at workBy Caroline Colvin

We know there are problems with labour force statistics, not least as the Office of National Statistics now admits this....

but quite apart from labour force survey data collection failures, as Emma Thackray (Women's Budget Group) points out, there is also a research/data gathering myopia around women who are forced by economic circumstance to have multiple part-time/gig-economy jobs.

This (once again) under-accounts for women's economic activity!

The unions in the state of #utah have received more than double the signatures needed for their referendum. This referendum would put it on the ballot to reverse the just passed law that banned collective bargaining in the state.

There is one caveat though, there’s another rule that it has to reach a certain threshold in at least 15 of 29 counties in the state. #union #unions #unionstrong #labor #workers #work #economy #utpol

#JeromePowell also said #Immigration has been a big reason growth has been so strong over the last couple of years.

The growth in the supply of #workers has stagnated, but so has demand for workers, as companies make cutbacks which is why unemployment is relatively stable.

Government layoffs are not yet measured enough to know effect on the #economy

"Around 250 doctors at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) have been certified as the first unionized resident and fellow physicians in Minnesota, according to union officials.

The physicians are represented by the Committee of Interns and Residents, a local of the Service Employees International Union (CIR/SEIU)..."

Meanwhile in the world of work

The good news:

few workers think their jobs are meaningless, despite some claims the view is widespread;

the bad news:

workplace bullying & abuse are too high (if not at epidemic proportions that some fear);

and:

hybrid working is a much more longer term shift in working practice, and as such explains why people are resisting the recent call to 'return to the office'!

All you Old fashion #Liberals and people duped into #AOC & #BernieSanders rally is defeating yourself & wasting your time & energy in building Class Consciousness & actual #Workers / #Unions power to be militant, like how it #directaction was achieved in #LatinAmerica and other places, where you all pretend to have these radical platforms that #progressives consider ideal but essentially & directly oppose the only thing to get real change.

The Mexican landscapers of a neighbor disappeared. Now there is a white dude with a weed whacker and no idea what he's looking at.

Reminds me of one of our county's biggest builders, a well known Republican, telling me some years ago: I only work with Mexicans, you can't beat them in speed and quality, our guys are just not good enough.

There are examples from all around the world of #Liberals & any #Progressive who you say it's "impossible & unrealistic" and what many of people in the west refuse to actually do while refusing to get involved in educating #workers from not being concessionists, joining & building #Community based orgs with #DualPower.

the disdain I have against people like this is unbelievable that no matter what they do they always come out and blame people like me arguing that this strategy doesn't work!
