Anyone tried an hdmi industrial camera on a lever-arm stand with a suitable lens as an #ElectronicMagnifier - and the image displayed on a suitable tv / monitor?

I can see everything I want on aliexpress - except for the lens.

Which lens is going to let me view around a A4 / foolscap area?

Most of these setups are being used as microscopes with lenses giving around 150X magnification. Far too much for reading a book.

After my precious #HDBaseT in-home streaming solution was stolen by a neighbor last week (Amazon refunded me), I settled for a more more low-tech solution: I ordered a 10 m #HDMI cable and a 15 m active #USB 2.0 extension.

It's more conduit for sure, but cheaper and probably less hassle to set up as well.

Can't wait for #PC couch #gaming at 4K60 🤓

Have you ever encountered VLC unable to play a .mkv file when your machine is plugged into hdmi? I have this .mkv file that will play fine on my MacBook screen, but if I plug an hdmi cable into my MacBook to output to a projector, VLC just shows a black screen, even after restarting VLC.

Thankfully I was able to get what I wanted playing over the projector from a different source and in a different format but I'm still really confused. #VLC #mkv #hdmi #tech #VideoFormats #codecs #mac

I’ve got #CEC over #HDMI (#Anynet+ on #Samsung TV) so my #AppleTV #SiriRemote powers the ︎TV box, TV, and #Onkyo receiver adjusts receiver volume, and operates the ︎TV normally (as shown in the photo).

On occasion, the settings to do this in the ︎TV disable. It initially all powers up but then only the ︎TV can be shut off (not the TV or receiver) and no volume control. And this setting in the ︎TV menus can’t be re-enabled. Only way to fix is to pull the power for everything and plug back in.

Yo, you #linux'oids out there! There is no "black out main display in fullscreen" option in #VLC, like on #mac version of VLC, right?

Is there a workaround? Other than dimming the display manually.

It's an old machine, function keys don't work very well. Rather have it done automatically when starting a movie on #HDMI display.

HDMI is definitely frustrating as hell. Consumer electronics companies just don't seem to have anyone that cares about making usability and interoperability a top priority.

Sorry I can't help with the multi-room audio stuff. I had a setup, but it was too long ago to be relevant to today's equipment and software.
