Maneco's story has similarities to Billy and Mandy's in that I was pushed into the responsibility. I was at home when the intercom rang. Someone asked me to go down and go to the square. There, 4 or 5 people were gathered around a carrier, and inside it was Maneco. Weak, dirty, and with a poorly done bandage on one of his hind legs. Not being able to ignore him, I took him to the vet where he said he would have to amputate the bandaged leg. He seemed to have suffered a dog attack. He spent three weeks in the hospital, recovering, and even then, I still had to take care of his leg, as it wasn't possible to stitch it up. Once everything was overcome, he became a mischievous, affectionate, and companionable cat.

A história de Maneco tem semelhança com a de Billy e Mandy pelo fato mde terem me empurrado a responsabilidade. Estava em casa quando o interfone tocou. Alguém pedia que eu descesse ee fosse até a praça. Lá 4 ou 5 pessoas se amontoavam em volta de uma caixa de transporte e dentro dela estava Maneco. Debilitado, sujo e com um curativo mal-feito em uma das pernas traseiras. Sem copnseguir ignorá-lo, levei ao veterinário onde ele disse que teria que apumtar a perna enfaixada. Ele parecia ter sofrido um ataque de cão. Ele ficou três semanas internado, em recuperação e, mesmo assim, ainda tive que cuidar de sua perna, pois não tinha como dar pontos. Superado tudo, se tornou gato levavado, carinhoso e companheiro.

Billy and Mandy were another one of those surprise adoptions. I was at home when I received a message via WhatsApp. It was a photo of an abandoned kitten in the little square I frequent. Nobody rescued him, they just left food and the person asked that I also bring food. But, I believe she knew I wasn't going to do just that, hence the reason for sending the message. I don't like people pushing their responsibilities onto me, but there was nothing more to be done, as I couldn't ignore the matter anymore. I grabbed the carrier and went to the little square. He was in the back, near a bush. In the same place as the photo. When I went to pick him up, he ran into the bush. As it was dark and the bush was a bit thorny, it was difficult to grab him. That's when I saw there was another cat, meaning they also didn't tell me there were two. I managed to put them in the carrier and take them home, where the gray one became Mandy and the other, Billy, in honor of the cartoon, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.

Recebi um pedido de resgate pelo Whatsapp: um gatinho abandonado na pracinha. Embora relutante em assumir mais responsabilidades, fui até lá. Para minha surpresa, encontrei dois gatinhos escondidos em um arbusto espinhoso. Com dificuldade, consegui capturá-los e levá-los para casa. Decidi chamá-los de Billy e Mandy, em homenagem ao desenho animado.

Juquinha (or Juca Bala) was one of the most unusual adoptions. One day I was going out for a walk with Diana, Guerrero, and Ursa, and when I left the building and turned right, I came across a man lying on the subway grate. He seemed to be sleeping, perhaps from being intoxicated. That wouldn't have been anything out of the ordinary if... on top of his enormous belly, there wasn't a little black kitten sleeping. As soon as I walked by, he woke up and started coming towards me. Not knowing what to do, I had to think fast, as he could have gone into the street where there is heavy car traffic. As a friend was passing by at the time, I asked her to hold the dogs and I picked up the black kitten and went up to my apartment. My wife was home. She opened the door, I handed her the kitten, she didn't ask any questions, and closed the door. To this day, I find that scene surprising.

Juquinha (ou Juca Bala) foi uma das adoções mais inusitadas. Um dia eu estava saindo para passear com Diana, Guerrero e Ursa e, quando saí do prédio e virei pra direita, me deparei com um homem deitado no gradeado doMetrô. Ele parecia estar dormindo, talvez por estar alcoolizado. Isso não seria nada demais se... em cima de sua enorme barriga não repousasse, dormindo, um filhotinho de gato preto. Assim que eu passei perto ele acordou e copmepu a vir na minha direção. Sem saber o que fazer, tive que pensar rápido, pois ele poderia ir para a estarada onde a movimentação de carros é intensa. Como uma amiga passava na hora, pedi que elea segurasse os cães e peguei o gatinho preto e subi pro meu apartamento. Minha esposa estava em casa. Ela abriu a porta, eu entreguei o gatinho, ela não fez nenhuma pergunta e fechou a porta., Até hoje acho essa cena surpreendente.
