Now, we are going to look for fraud.” That has become the all-purpose justification for the devastating cuts to programs that have already occurred, and the ones Republicans will build their upcoming federal budget around. What they won’t tell you is that we already investigate fraud in these programs. So what are Trump, Elon Musk, and congressional Republicans going to do in their heroic fraud eradication program that isn’t already being done ? The answer is: nothing. But they are going to say they’re not only looking, but finding fraud. It is a lie. And it is going to be used in particular against Medicaid, which they are targeting for enormous cutbacks. “Waste, fraud, and abuse,” the old familiar tune The term “waste, fraud, and abuse” was popularized four decades ago by Ronald Reagan, who told the public again and again that the federal government was absolutely riddled with this trio of horrors. Then as now, the cure for the supposed illness was not a careful and systematic program of identifying and rectifying inefficiencies and malfeasance, but slashing away at programs Republicans never liked in the first place.

“I’m not sure I love that,” Trump said 🙄.

Trump AGAIN repeats the #lie that European #aid to #Ukraine will all be repaid even after #France Pres #Macron had to publicly & in front of press correct him Tues, & Starmer also corrected him earlier today. Macron made clear European aid was a mix of grants, loans & guarantees & much of it is not expected to be repaid.

@embiggenData Cannot stress often enough - Understand #Rump #trump #mus #vought #MAGA #GOP are liars. They #lie constantly, loudly, with bravado, and every media outlet panders to their every pronouncement report the #lies as #facts. #democracy is #difficult. It takes time, engagement, effort, hard work by all of us. We cannot simply accept the lies. We have to fight back with the truth constantly. Time consuming but folks will always take the easy route which now is to oblivion.
